Just three months after Mexican American singer Jenni Rivera died  in a plane crash in Mexico, her inimitable voice still “lives” today – in the song premier of “Hurt So Bad.”...

One of Rivera’s last projects included a duet with Edward James Olmos where they recorded the pop ballad “Hurt So Bad” for their film “Filly Brown.”

The sound track is premiering exclusively on Billboard and will be released on the radio in the next two weeks.

The song “Hurts So Bad” was created in the tradition of an “oldies” song written by Olmos, Rivera, Arthur Dominguez, Mico Olmos, Chris Perez, Edward Rios and David Salas.

As a regional Mexican genre lead singer, Rivera touched many hearts, and now with this English recording her career will go on creating new fans.

Filly Brown” is a film directed and written by Youssef Delara and co-director Michael D. Olmos.Gina Rodriguez is the leading role as Majo, a Latina who aspires to become a rapper in Los Angeles while her mother, played by Jenni Rivera, is in prison struggling with drug addiction.

The film was Rivera’s last performance on-screen.

Lisa “Khool Aid” Rios, one of the producers of the film, recorded a spoken dedication to Rivera:

“Dear Jenni–You’ve left us with an empty place in our heart. It’s not just an ordinary empty place. It’s an empty place that needs to be filled in all we do moving forward…know that you’ll live on.”

The film is scheduled for release on April 19 and the sound track will go on sale on April 16.
